David Cameron launches Banbury 400

Conservative Party leader David Cameron visited Hook Norton Brewery to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of Banbury’s Town Charter. While at the brewery he pulled the first pint of Banbury 400.

David Cameron said: “Hook Norton is a fantastic brewer and Banbury 400 is an excellent beer. It’s delicious. “We eat and enjoy local food and in the same way we should celebrate local beer.”

Banbury 400 is brewed with barley malt grown in Oxfordshire and water from the brewery’s own wells, Banbury 400 is a pale beer with a slight orange hue, displaying aromas of soft dark fruit, with a full and almost spicy flavour. On June 28th 1608 King James 1 granted the town of Banbury a charter allowing the town to govern itself. The positions of Mayor and Town Clerk were created, together with the right to have a gaol, the power to punish drunkards and the right to have gallows.

Hook Norton Managing Director James Clarke said: “David Cameron is a local MP who takes a great interest in local firms and we are honoured that he should visit us and pull the first pint of Banbury 400, which was brewed to mark the 400th anniversary of the Banbury town charter. “Hook Norton brewery is proud to have produced this special limited edition beer.”
