Hooked on World Cup

Customers at the Great Western Arms in Blockley, Gloucestershire have had something to cheer about during the rugby world cup. Even though England haven't been winning all their games, they still raised a glass to Hook Norton Brewery's special beer produced for the event - called Outside Half – it was named in honour of the last minute drop goal which won the previous world cup.

And a special guest dropped into the pub to pour the first pint. English rugby union player Nick Baxter who has represented England Students, England Sevens and the Barbarians took his turn behind the bar. He is the leading try scorer in National League rugby scoring his 150th try for Pertemps Bees versus Doncaster in April 2006.

The beer is already going down a treat at the pub. Licensee Andy Pearce said: "There was a great atmosphere on Saturday for England's first match. We were packed and they loved the beer, which is pale and crisp.”   Outside Half, at 3.9 per cent ABV is a pale and crisp beer, which is as smooth and stylish as the England outside half himself.

Remembering past success, this beer has a wonderfully bitter finish, and promises to deliver so much – try one and see if you agree. As it wings it’s way across the palate, and touches down on the taste buds, you’ll want to stay propped at the bar.
