Lets make St George’s Day a celebration says Hook Norton Hook Norton will celebrate the diversity and richness of English culture on Monday 23 April.
Hook Norton is calling for pubs to make St George’s Day an event to remember. Hook Norton Managing Director James Clarke said: “We celebrate the saints of Ireland, Scotland and Wales – Patrick, Andrew and David – but now is the time that we celebrate St George.
“Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if Monday 23 April, was a day of celebration of the diversity and richness of English culture.” And look out for Hook Norton’s latest seasonal brew 303AD, at 4.0 per cent ABV, which will be on sale on draught in time for St George’s Day. James Clarke said: “Hook Norton is an English brewery, 303AD is a real English beer and I can think of no better way than commemorating the life of England’s patron saint than with a glass of our 303AD beer.”
303AD is brewed to celebrate the life of St George and its name marks the date of the martyr’s death in 303AD. Hook Norton 303AD is made with English malt and English hops, which combine to make a very English beer.
Dry and crisp with a hint of citrus and banana. Excellent with most foods it works well with many vegetarian dishes and is a superb compliment to English lamb and beef. And we asked British Guild of Beer Writers chairman Tim Hampson for his tasting notes on 303AD. “303AD is a softly spoken beer.
Brewed with a small proportion of amber malt, and the innovative and environmentally friendly dwarf hop variety First Gold. 303AD has a citrus, lemon finish. It is not too sweet, and is an ideal beer to drink with a meal and goes particularly well with red meat,” he said.
