New tenants at the Trumpet, Merstow Green, Evesham

Ian & Sandy Monk offer a friendly welcome to customers at the Trumpet, 13 Merstow Green, Evesham, Worcestershire. For the new tenants of the Hook Norton pub, in the historic town of Evesham promise a warm reception for locals and visitors to the town. In the short time the couple have had the pub they have transformed it inside and out.

The interior has been redecorated, the burnt orange walls, redwood slatted blinds and cane furniture give the Trumpet a relaxing Mediterranean or Spanish Colonial atmosphere. And an unused area has been transformed into the Good Companions Bar, where customers can enjoy genuine home-cooked food. “We are a family run, family friendly pub,” said licensee Sandy Monk, “Food is available every lunchtime with a traditional pub grub menu, including cottage pie, a full English breakfast and freshly baked baguettes.” And if Sandy and Ian are not behind the bar, they are likely to find Sandy’s daughter Gemma working there too.

Outside the garden has been transformed and it now offers a comfortable place for drinkers to relax and enjoy, while younger customers can play on the new climbing frame. Ian Monk said: “This pub has a real spirit behind it, with a darts team and a quiz team. Darts night is Thursdays and it usually pulls in a good mix of people. Quiz nights are on every other Sunday.” Situated close to the centre of Evesham’s historic heart, the pub offers an ideal place for visitors to the town to chill out. The Trumpet is proving a big hit with coach visitors – who can enjoy an early morning coffee – the pub opens at 10am – or a traditional afternoon tea – of home made scones, jam and cream. And coach drivers can expect a warm welcome too, with many enjoying a complimentary soft drink and roll. The pub has a large smoke free area.
