Did you hear the one about the bishop and the guest ale?
John and Trisha Bellinger, licensees of the Bell Inn at Adderbury, had an unexpected visit at lunchtime on 22 May when the Right Reverend the Bishop of Dorchester Colin Fletcher popped in.
He had been presiding at the Tudor Hall School confirmations at the village church of St Mary's and came in to see a retired colleague who can always be found at the bar of the Bell drinking his favourite tipple Hooky Bitter. The Bishop's eyes almost popped out of his head when he looked along the pumps as there at the end, where the ever-changing guest ale sits, was Shepherd Neame's Bishop's Finger.
John said, "The Bishop didn't stay for one as he had been invited to go on to the reception being held at the school, but he certainly was amused at the co-incidence"
