New manager at Hook Norton Visitor Centre swaps wine glass for pint pot
A man with 20 years experience of the wine trade is the new manager at the Hook Norton Visitor Centre, Hook Norton, Oxfordshire.
Richard Hughes has swapped his wine glass for pint pot and has unveiled a series of beer and food tasting evenings at the brewery.
The new events start off on Saturday 22 May at 5pm with a Call My Bluff style beer tasting followed by a fish & chip supper.
Other planned events include a pig roast and meet the brewer evening and a Thai food night.
Entrance is by ticket only, which can be purchased in advance for £10.00 from the Visitor Centre.
Richard Hughes said: “I really want people to have a memorable time when they visit the brewery and Visitor Centre. The beer and food evenings are a fun way to help people understand that beer and wine are equals.”
Richard has also increased the number of visitor tours of the brewery to three a day from Monday-Friday, and there are two a day on Saturday.
Richard said: “The tours of the brewery are a pleasurable experience, which enable people to see at first hand how quality beers, made from the finest raw materials, are brewed.”
Richard also plans to enhance the range of Hook Norton branded goods on sale at the brewery.
“We also sell beer at the Visitor Centre,” said Richard. “When you choose from Hook Norton's range of traditionally brewed bottled beers, beer gift packs, polypins or minipins, you are buying premium products from an award winning brewery.”
Tours of the brewery have to booked in advance and take place at 9.30am, 11.00am and 2.30pm on Monday- Friday. Saturday 10.30am and 2.30pm. Each tour takes about two hours and includes a tasting of Hook Norton beers. Tours cost £9.50 per person.

The Brewery Visitors Centre, Brewery Lane, Hook Norton OX15 5NY is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.00pm and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
