Business as usual as roof replaced

It’s business as usual at the Hook Norton Brewery even though the roof above the coppers is being replaced.

The essential work had to be undertaken once it was discovered much of the woodwork in the roof of the Victorian tower brewery needed replacing.

Scaffolding has been up to enable the essential work to be undertaken while the day to day operation of the brewery takes place below.

The slates were carefully removed to enable the wooden rafters and joists to be replaced.

Graham Wood, pictured, one of the local tradesman who is working on the roof said the work is progressing well.

The work which is ahead of schedule should be completed within weeks.

While the work is being completed the use of the brewery’s 25hp steam engine, which was installed in 1899, has been temporary suspended.
