Eagle Tavern the best pub in West Oxfordshire
It was a night of celebration at Hook Norton’s Eagle Tavern in Corn Street, Witney when CAMRA’s Oxford branch declared it the best pub in West Oxfordshire. Welcoming everyone to the party Oxford branch’s pubs officer Tony Goulding said: “The Eagle a proper local, and it is a worthy winner of our country pub of the year award.”
In a secret ballot CAMRA members had voted the Eagle as the best pub in the west of the county. “The Eagle is a lovely local pub, which is well supported, it has a hardworking landlord and landlady, and we must not forget the brewery behind them - the last of the country’s traditional brewers - Hook Norton.” Landlord Ian Payne said the award is a fantastic accolade for all the staff who work here.
